Key Takeaways
Nicky’s tips for a first Disney World trip with a baby and toddler:
- Choose a side-by-side stroller: A double stroller kept her 8-month-old and 3-year-old next to each other and was easier to maneuver through the parks.
- Rent the bulky gear: BabyQuip delivered the stroller, rain cover, fan and bed rail to her resort and picked everything up before the flight home.
- Use the Baby Care Centers: Every park has one with snacks, diapers, medicine and calm nursing rooms for a break or a nap.
This August, I got to take both of my babies on our first Disney vacation alongside my best friend, and it truly was a dream come true.
Manifesting this trip was what got me through the dreary early postpartum days in the middle of winter earlier this year. I would sit at my coffee table and map out possible ways to make this trip happen. Then early May while on FaceTime with my best friend while getting ready to return to work we joked “what if we just booked a Disney vacation?” Then I had checked flights and it just seemed too good to be true so we decided to go for it and trusted that everything else would sort itself out.
Finding the Right Stroller for Two Little Ones
We booked our stay at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort and knew that transportation to the parks would be taken care of. However, I still had to sort out the best transportation for my babies within the parks and I knew that my UPPAbaby Vista wasn’t going to do the trick since the top and bottom set up made it harder to maneuver throughout the parks, especially with an 8 month old and 3 year old.
Then I discovered BabyQuip, a baby gear rental service that made me realize traveling with two little ones didn’t have to mean packing and hauling every baby essential from home. Instead, I could have the gear we needed delivered right to our destination, making our trip so much easier and less stressful from the start! For this trip, I rented the Zoe side by side double stroller, a stroller rain cover, a stroller caddy organizer, an extra fan, and a bed rail. Having these essentials waiting for us when we arrived meant less to worry about packing and more room to focus on enjoying our family adventure!
Baby Gear Delivered to Our Disney Resort
Not only was everything delivered straight to our hotel at the scheduled time shortly after we checked in, but everything was also clean and ready for us to use. Being able to leave bulky baby gear at home and have everything we needed waiting for us at our destination made traveling with two little ones so much easier. It was the perfect, stress-free start to our magical Disney vacation!
After we picked up our gear, we proceeded to go to Blizzard Beach and the Zoe Double Stroller and rain cover helped us brave the Florida afternoon rain while also keeping my babies next to each other.
Our Disney World Park Days With a Baby and Toddler
We started the next day bright and early at Animal Kingdom and spent most of the day there before we left for Magic Kingdom. We enjoyed Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and walked around the park until shortly before midnight when our feet were as achy as can be.
The next day was our Hollywood Studios day and we ended the trip with a day at Epcot. You bet we left with more merch than we knew where to pack it, but honestly, you’ll never regret getting a cozy sweatshirt with Minnie’s face on it to bring you joy every time you wear it. It’s a sweet reminder of your first Disney vacation as a mama.
Easy Gear Pickup Before Our Flight Home
When it came time to return the gear, the process was just as smooth! We arranged for everything to be picked up right before we headed to the airport, making the end of our trip just as hassle-free as the beginning. BabyQuip also offers the option to arrange delivery and pickup directly at the airport, adding even more flexibility for traveling families.
My Biggest Tip: Visit the Baby Care Center
Finally, my biggest tip I always share with other parents is that if you need a break during your park days, go and check out the “Baby Care Center”. Every park has one and it’s a great place to catch your breath with your little ones, stock up on any items you may need from baby and/or toddler snacks, diapers, medicine, etc. Plus I love that they have calming nursing rooms to help soothe your baby for a nap if a break from the park excitement is needed.
Say Yes to the Adventure
If you take anything away from my experience, let it be this: don’t let the thought of traveling with two little ones scare you. Go in with patience, flexibility, and a little faith that things will work themselves out. Take advantage of perks like flying with your baby as a lap infant until they turn two, and consider renting baby gear through services like BabyQuip to make your journey a little easier.
Sometimes, all it takes is a spontaneous conversation with your best friend to turn a dream into a reality. This trip reminded me that some of the sweetest memories come from saying yes to the adventure, bringing the people you love along for the ride, and making it easier for other families to experience that same magic. My babies may be too little to remember every moment, but the memories we made together will stay with me forever.
